Activision Confirms StarCraft II for 2009

Posted 2nd Sep 2008 04:36 AM by Leord

Not Diablo-news in itself, but seeing how the release schedule for Diablo III is at least slightly linked to that of StarCraft II, you might be happy to know that there are no plans for a 2010 or later StarCraft II release. We’re looking at 2009 for both StarCraft II and aforementioned Battle.net 2.0.

It’s great news, at least for me. I stopped playing wow a long time ago and it’s unlikely I’ll come back to it for WotLK. But another Blizzard game could make the wait for THE Blizzard game so much easier.

Yeah. WoW is so painfully boring right now. Especially if you are a casual player… (Shattered Sun Dailies again? *Shudder*). I never played much of SC 1 so this will be a nice step into that world. I am excited to see how cross franchise Battle.net 2.0 will be. Having a Blizzard wide account is sounding very fun and streamlined.

Well, being a great SC fan, I’m ofc looking forward to SC2 like none else wink

I’m usually discussing SC2 over at SCW.

Really looking forward SC2; sequel to the best RTS ever. IMO the wait for D3 is almost over when SC2 is released.

Well, it will certainly help. I’m anxious for all the new stuff such as story, multiplayer and mapmaking.

Especially mapmaking actually.

I prefer Diablo because I suck at RTS raspberry
But indeed the thing that gave WarCraft3 a longer hard-disk life than StarCraft was the awsome maps that people kept making long after the expantion pack came out.

I don’t care much about SC2 (but I am a big RTS fan) but I’ll probably pick it up just for the campaign, and maybe to tinker around with the map editor.

This is good news though; they may announce their last project next year then.

There will probably be Diablo III maps made with the Starcraft II map editor. I think I’ll take a quick look at Starcraft II melee and the campaign, and then play Diablo III maps in Starcraft II until Diablo III is released.

Yeah, you mean like a mod? Yes, I think so to. With keybindings and other things, like in War3, I suppose we can basically be playing D3 in SC2 engine! =)
