Blizzcon Ticket Contest: Grow Your Item Garden

Posted 26th May 2009 08:29 PM by Flux

You’ve waited breathlessly, and at last, here it is. Our Blizzcon ticket contest!  What do you have to do to win?  Grow an item garden.

Fire up (reinstall, if necessary) your copy of Diablo, Diablo II, or Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, find a nice flat spot, and start dropping items. (Update: By popular demand, you may take a screenshot in another game, if you’re doing something Diablo-related with your drops.) Decorate, make shapes, spell words, create actual art! Use items, potions, gold, monster corpses, unsummoned minions, dead players, anything manipulable in the game. You can paint on as large a canvas as you like; fill an entire level with items, take multiple screenshots, jigsaw them together, and submit the results. Your imagination is the limit, so long as you actually do it. Entries created with Photoshop will be frowned upon, though it’s possible you could enhance an image in some way that would be so creative it would win us over.

To enter, upload your images to this folder. You can enter as often as you like, but posting 20 lame pictures isn’t going to get you a win, and it will probably annoy the judges. A few example images pulled from our archives are posted in that folder now, and you can see them in thumbnails in this post, just for inspiration.

Thanks to Blizzard, we have 3 tickets to give away. Two (2) winners will be selected based on the quality of their images. Judges will look for creativity, originality, quality of execution, humor, and overall presentation. One (1) other winner will be chosen randomly from everyone who enters. Good luck, and have fun! The contest runs from May 26, 2009 until June 10, 2009.

Click through for some more rules and prize eligibility details.

Prize Eligibility
The three Blizzcon tickets are provided by Blizzard Entertainment. Diii.net will contact the winners via forum PM and/or email. Winners will submit to us a name and email contact. We will forward that information to Blizzard, and they will put your name on the guest pass list with 1 general admission ticket. To pick up the ticket you must have a photo ID that matches the name you submit. If you can not go you are free to pass the prize on to a friend, but make sure it’s someone who can make it to Blizzcon, in Irvine, California, August 21-22, so the ticket doesn’t go to waste.

How to Enter
Entries must be uploaded to the contest folder by midnight, June 10, PDT. A forum membership is required to upload images to the image gallery. If you are unable to upload your images for some technical reason, contact (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for assistance.

Winner Selection
Winners are chosen at the sole discretion of Diii.net staff. Winners will be selected from all entries submitted before the contest deadline. Winner selections are final. Winners will be notified by forum PM and/or email within 4 days of the contest deadline. To claim a prize, winners must follow the instructions contained in their notification.

Two (2) winners will be selected based on the creativity, originality, quality of execution, humor, and overall presentation of their image(s).
One (1) winner will be chosen randomly from everyone who enters. Multiple entries will not increase your odds of being randomly-selected; we will count up all the entrants, pick a random number, and award it to that person.

The gallery page doesn’t work when I’m signed-in—-It starts to come up but then the “Oh Noes!—page not found’ page comes up.

There an upload link that might work, so don’t have to email Flux?

Wut? It displays for me when I’m logged in as admin, regular user, or not at all. Anyone else having problems?

Incidentally, users don’t actually have to view a gallery to upload to it; so long as you can upload images, you get to select from all the user-permitted folders for your target image destination. It’s just easier when you’re in a given folder, since then that’s the default target directory.

The contest is open to anyone anywhere. We just ask that you give up the prize, or find a friend who can attend Blizzcon if you can’t, so the ticket doesn’t go to waste.

If/when Blizzard provides us with prizes that include plane tickets and hotel rooms, we’ll say so in the rules. wink
