Bashiok on "Naked" Female Witch Doctors

Posted 5th Oct 2008 06:36 AM by Flux

As happened in our thread about the newest d3 screenshots, there were questions on the b.net forums about the star of the new shot from Tristram(?), since it/he/she looks strangely naked and light-skinned. Bashiok jumped into the thread to clear up that confusion, while adding a bit of mystery as well.

[BLUE=“http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d3-general&t=366675&tmp=1#post366675”]It’s a “naked” female witch doctor, she’s twisting around to her right on a wind up of a skull of flame cast (previously called fire bomb). I don’t think that’s the most interesting part of the screenshot though.[/BLUE]
What is the most interesting part of the screenshot? The setting? The well? The badger-looking Scavengers? He didn’t say.  The shot in question is attached below.

I think I said this somewhere else, but it’s probably appropriate to say again. They renamed the skill ‘Skull of Flame’, and if you look closely, there are some decapitated dead monsters/NPC…

I believe that the most interesting part of the screenshot may be that the Skull of Flame skill may require a skull to cast!

If you look to the right of the witch doctor, that thing looks like a player. Kinda like a dwarf/halfling/gnome type. I’m honestly not sure about that, but also there looks like an arm, a huge one right over top the other player.

Or could that be cain running to your aid?

If you float the mouse over the image you will see the name ss43-hires.
That humanoid corpse may be a rather unlucky hireling.

Cheers.

@ESV - The thing just to the above and right of the player is a scavenger. The thing above that is a dead body of some kind.

@Menne - That may be true, but I think the picture name is not descriptive, instead short for HIgh RESolution.

I think you are over-analyizing Bashiok’s comment guys. The most interesting thing in this pic is the night-time, since this is the first pic that shows night in D3.

Could be the strange way that the shadow of the character seems to be coming from none of the light sources.

Could be the fact that the lamp is actually lit? Pepin is still alive? wink

As kunzaito pointed out, all the d3 shots from the official site have “hires” in the title. screenshots and artworks. I save them with the same name before uploading them to our gallery, to avoid any confusion or posting the same shot twice.

IMO, the "most interesting" part is the lighting of the area.  Being dark and gloomy reather than tinted with bright color.

Look at how pipins building is facing. Its at a diffrent angel. Also, is that snow. If it was fog wouldn’t it be around her and not under her?
